One of the things that my father insisted on buying for my backpacking trip to Europe was accident health insurance. At the time I only agreed because he was paying for my trip and I wanted to appease him because he might cancel it last minute or get into an argument at the travel agencies office and embarrass me in front of everyone. I didn’t realize how important it was and how thankful I was that I listened and followed his advice until I got to Spain and ran into a vehicular accident on my way to a restaurant.
I didn’t really speak Spanish that much and was rushed to a hospital from the scene by an ambulance so let’s just say I was so thankful that when I handed them my accident health insurance papers and they knew exactly where to take me and what to do. When I woke up my dad was beside my bed and had told me everything that happened. He even gloated by saying “Now aren’t you happy that I made you get accident health insurance?” with a smug smile on his face. I have to say that at that moment I had never been happier that he was right.
